SMS Text Messaging Policy

Pet Friend LLC provides software for shelters, rescues, and animal control organizations. This policy covers optional texts from Pet Friend about a software account and separately authorized texts sent by a shelter using the software.
Pet Friend account and billing texts
At signup, you may choose an optional, unchecked consent box for Pet Friend account messages. These can include login help, trial-ending reminders, payment failures, duplicate-charge notices, and other billing updates within the consent you gave. Activation links are sent by email. The disclosure is:
I agree to receive text messages from Pet Friend about my account: login help and billing notices such as my trial ending, a payment failure, or a duplicate charge. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
Leaving that box unchecked does not give SMS consent. Your software subscription and recurring-payment authorization are separate choices; you can purchase without opting in to texts. We keep account-message consent in Pet Friend's central billing records, so it can be checked even before an organization's software account is activated.
Texts from a shelter or rescue
An organization may separately ask whether you want texts about an adoption application and the animal you applied for. Its public application uses an optional, unchecked consent box that identifies the organization. Depending on what you consent to, messages may include application updates or related appointment and animal-care reminders. Consent is not a condition of adopting an animal. The organization must obtain appropriate permission for the messages it sends.
Giving your number to a shelter is not, by itself, consent to texts, and agreeing to shelter messages does not automatically subscribe you to Pet Friend's account program. We do not use these transactional opt-ins as permission for unrelated promotional texts.
Frequency and costs
Message frequency varies with your account or relationship with the shelter. Message and data rates may apply under your mobile plan. Pet Friend does not charge the recipient a separate fee per text. Availability and delivery depend on mobile networks and providers; an email or in-app notice may still be used for account information.
Stopping texts and getting help
Reply STOP to a message to opt out of texts from that sending program. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT are also recognized stop keywords. An opt-out confirmation may be sent. Reply HELP for help, contact the organization that sent the message, or email contact@petfriend.io. Replying START may unblock your number with the carrier; renewed consent may be required before Pet Friend account messages resume. Contact us to renew account-message consent.
Stopping texts does not cancel a Pet Friend subscription, stop recurring charges, or prevent necessary account emails. To cancel the software subscription, use Admin → Subscription or email contact@petfriend.io. If a stop request does not appear to work, contact us with the sending number and the number receiving messages; do not send a password or payment-card details.
Consent records and privacy
We retain consent and opt-out information, such as the phone number, the disclosure accepted, the recorded time, IP address, and relevant account or organization. Pet Friend account consent is kept centrally; shelter consent is kept with that organization's records. Messaging providers, including Twilio, process numbers and message information to deliver texts and handle replies.
Phone numbers and SMS opt-in information are not sold or shared with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. We may retain or disclose relevant records for legal, security, or compliance purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy. See also the Terms of Service.
