What Every Plan Includes

The three plans are one product at three sizes, not three different products. Whichever you pick, you get the complete record platform: animal records from intake to outcome, medical history with vaccinations and a medication administration record, adoption processing with e-signatures on every plan, foster placements, automatic Petfinder and Adopt-a-Pet syncing, AKC Reunite microchip imports, and native iOS and Android apps so records get updated where the work happens.

The boring-but-critical parts are also universal: intake, outcome, and length-of-stay reporting for board meetings and grant applications, nightly backups on AWS infrastructure, and a self-serve export of your entire data set — you can leave as easily as you arrived. Pricing is published, there are no setup fees, every plan has a 14-day free trial, and you can cancel anytime.

How the Plans Differ

Rescue — $25/month. Sized for foster-based and volunteer-run organizations. The core platform above, with the foster board at the center: which animal is in which home, what medical care is due, and what's ready to move toward adoption. If your "kennels" are fifty living rooms across three counties, this is the plan built around that reality.

Shelter — $50/month. For organizations running a facility. Adds the configuration layer a staffed shelter needs: custom fields on intake, adoption, and foster forms; required and hidden fields so your process is enforced on save rather than suggested; custom printouts; scheduled reports that email themselves; and document e-signing for your own PDFs — a lightweight DocuSign built in, no separate subscription.

Animal Control — $100/month. Everything above plus the officer module: calls that escalate into cases, an ordinance library with multi-ordinance citations, bite and quarantine reports, and signatures captured in the field with a receipt for the citizen. It also carries the large-organization tooling — analytics dashboards, a full audit log, API keys and webhooks, and Shelter Animals Count export.

Moving From Another System — or From Paper

Most organizations don't adopt shelter software from a blank slate; they arrive from spreadsheets, paper folders, or another vendor. Every plan includes the migration importer — bring animals, people, medical history, and outcomes in from standard CSV exports, with a dedicated importer for Shelterluv data. If you're coming off paper, the paper-to-digital guide lays out a transition that doesn't disrupt daily operations, and the 30-day migration plan shows what a careful switch looks like week by week. However you arrive, the exit stays open: your full data set is exportable, by you, at any time.

Start Where You Are, Switch When You Grow

Plenty of customers start on the Rescue plan and upgrade the day they sign a municipal contract or hire their first officer. Switching plans is a settings change, not a migration: your records, history, and integrations carry over untouched. Government agencies that can't put a card on file can pay yearly by check or purchase order through the yearly & government plans.

If you're comparing us against other vendors while you're here, the honest version of that homework is on the comparison page, and the buyer's guide has the questions we'd ask any vendor — including us.

Frequently asked questions

Which plan does my organization need?

Foster-based rescue with no facility: Rescue. Staffed shelter with a building, custom paperwork, and scheduled reporting: Shelter. Agencies with officers in the field writing citations and working cases: Animal Control. If you sit between two, start smaller — switching later is a settings change, not a migration.

Can I switch plans later without losing data?

Yes. All three plans run on the same platform, so upgrading or downgrading keeps every record, photo, document, and integration exactly as it was.

Do all plans include e-signatures and the mobile apps?

Yes — adoption, surrender, foster, and volunteer e-signatures are on every plan, as are the iOS and Android apps. Uploading your own PDFs for signature (the built-in lightweight DocuSign) starts on the Shelter plan.

Can a government agency pay by check or purchase order?

Yes. The yearly & government plans support invoice-and-check payment for municipal purchasing, alongside the standard card billing.

Is there a free trial?

Every plan has a 14-day free trial with no setup fees — and before that, the interactive demo lets you click through real sample data without signing up at all.
